Mohammed cartoons on the agenda of Mecca summit

Filed under: Newspapers, Global news — Hans Henrik Lichtenberg @ 11:55 am

Caricatures of Mohammed published in a Danish paper, which have already caused uproar in Muslim communities in Denmark and abroad, will be on the agenda at the Organisation of the Islamic Conference in Mecca in December, an Egyptian diplomat said in Copenhagen on Friday. On Wednesday, Egypt’s ambassador in Beirut said he and the Lebanese foreign minister had discussed which measures to take against Denmark following the Jyllands-Posten paper’s publication of 12 Mohammed cartoons in September. In October, 11 ambassadors from Arab countries and Pakistan, Iran, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Indonesia wrote a letter to to say they were offended by the caricatures and demanded an official apology from the newspaper. Rasmussen said in a written reply on October 21 that he would not intervene in the affair but said the diplomats were free to undertake legal proceedings. Islam is the second religion in Denmark after the Evangelical-Lutheran state church, with some 180,000 members or 3 percent of the population.

  1. Dear Readers,
It is very sad and shameful to see how people throw their values behind their backs. I am a newly converted Muslim (I was a Chiristian Orthodox before that), and to tell you the truth while living with Muslims from different nationalities, I have never seen or heard any one mocking or making fun of Jesus, Moses, or Ibarhim may God’s peace be upon them. It is not only unacceptable to do so in Islam but considered to be sinfully mad. I have seen many debates from different walks of life on this matter (sadly some of them are very insultive and discremenative to Isalm). I was also astonished about the wrong portays and information some fellow readers have about Islam and Muslims.
Bottom line freedom of speech that people like to refer to doesn not mean insulting or mocking anyone’s beliefs. Briefly my point is: “You do not make your point or earn people’s respect by being impolite”
    Peace be upon you.

  6. Hey Islamist,
Why do you have a double standard when it comes to freedom of speech?. Either Mohammad is or he is not. Don’t blame the non muslim press for Islams failure to wake up to the 21st century. I refuse to hold your Jihadist standards above freedom of expression. Threats and terror will always fall to truth and vision. Once you realize we are all one people on one planet, does it really matter what the big deal is over what your God looks like. I would like to think that all gods should be judged by the character of their words and deeds than by the image of what they look like. I say to all of Islam, Chill out and have some fun with some music, fine women and a nice glass of California wine. Peace be with you always.

  7. Now i have got alot to say , all this that has happened regarding the cartoons made to make the Prophet Muhammed (p.b.u.h.)look bad was a WRONG IDEA , how dare people disgrace a certain religion. WHY whats the point, if a muslim was to disgrace the christians then they would want to kill us, the news would be everywhere but as its about the muslims no one wants to apogise. Look the person who made it doesnt even know the Prophet so why bother making a load of crap and disgracing him. He was pHROPHET WHICH MEANS HE WAS A NOBLE MAN AND SPREAD RIGHT MESSGE OF ISLAM. Why bring history into the world now regarding terrorists he was no terrorists he was a messeneger. God wont leave those pple who make fun of His messenger. ‘THEIRS WILL BE A PAINFUL DOOM’ Dats a fact!
PLZ learn a lesoon you know all these floods, disasters and bad things that happen in the world are all because of pple who upset God by disgracing races duch as ISLAM, the TRUE RELIGION. Now God may send a disaster and it may be on its way to hit Denmark.
PLEASE RESPECT ONE ANOTHER AND ONE ANOTHERS RELIGION!!!!
